"we are committed to developing and engaging our employees from the outset"

Whether you are an undergraduate looking to gain valuable work experience during the summer period, or a school student looking to spend two weeks in an engineering environment, we provide the opportunity to come and join us and experience working life at Millard Consulting.

During placements, we aim to provide you with a good overall knowledge of the business and industry and we involve our placement students in as many aspects of our business as we can.

Our work experience programme runs throughout the year.  We aim to provide students with the chance to experience everything involved in all aspects of working life, for example, working as part of a team, problem solving and site visits.

Below is a profile of Luke Wilson describing how he came to join Millard Consulting and how he has developed his career since joining.

Luke Wilson

Having always been a "hands on" learner, I decided that I was best suited to continuing my education on a work based training scheme like that which Millard Consulting offer. Joining straight from school meant all I really knew about the operations of the UK construction industry was what I had researched.

The team were very supportive and understanding of this and have given me an opportunity to spend time in each area of the business. This helped me to learn how each part of the business works, before deciding which way I wanted to progress my career.

Having enjoyed working in civil engineering most; I decided that was definitely for me, and I haven't looked back. The friendly atmosphere gives me the opportunity to diversify and work with people from other teams.

Since joining I have gained an A level in Design and Technology, which I studied on a day release basis, leading to an HNC in civil engineering at Coventry University. I have been studying on the same day release basis and have just completed my first year. The continued support of Millard Consulting has played an important part in the development of my career.

The organisation recognises the importance of healthy living and leisure interests outside of the work environment. They contribute to membership of health clubs and encourage participation in sporting activities.

Being a very active person I take advantage of the schemes offered and, in my free time, enjoy playing badminton, rugby, golf, pool and keeping fit in the gym.
