Project description
Millard Consulting were appointed by Perth & Kinross Council in 2011 to provide structural and civil engineering services for the new primary school at Invergowrie. The project involved construction of a new 3000sqm single storey school on the former playing fields. The existing school building was destined to become a community facility on completion of the project.
The new building is a steel frame construction with timber kit infill panel walls and a steel deck roof, part of which is a green roof. The project was initiated using a Partnering approach, involving the Client, Millard Consulting Design Team and principal Contractor. As part of the design partnership we were involved in the risk management process and through ongoing liaison and close communication between all parties, the project started on time and within budget.
Following on from ground investigation works Millard progressed to detailed design, with our structural engineers designing all major structural elements, including the steel frame, foundations and external canopies. Our involvement continued through the project with site liaison meetings and inspections as the project progressed.
Civil engineering services have included the design of external drainage, infrastructure design for new access roadways, the design of external works and inspection of works.
