Project description
The Orchardbank business park development is located west of Forfar, adjacent to the A90 and represents a £30m investment in the area. Millard are proud to have worked closely with the developers, since 2003, delivering a range of services including:
- infrastructure design
- site supervision
- drainage design
- co-ordination of statutory services
- planning supervision
- transport assessment
- travel plan
- structural design
Our integrated multidisciplinary engineering approach was essential to maximise the potential of this greenfield business park, while ensuring it remains safe from flooding. We undertook a comprehensive hydrology survey to inform negotiations with SEPA and the Council, which concluded in the lifting of a development embargo on the area. With the 24 hectare site enabled we completed two phases of infrastructure design, project management and contract supervision including foul drainage, roads, SUDS, culvert designs and wetland creation utilising a network of vegetation corridors, swales and retention ponds.
The park was subject to Transport Assessment investigations, following which we designed and supervised construction of the road network to current standards and submitted for adoption by the local authority
Plot development has included several significant buildings for Angus Council. We have provided structural assessment and design including foundations and steel frame for a range of buildings in various locations on the site, for office accommodation and printing works as well as the structural design of the new Social Work and Housing Department.
