Wellburn Care Home Development

In October 2015 Millard Consulting was commissioned as civil and structural engineers by James F Stephen Architects for the construction of a new build 60-bed care home, within the grounds of the convent of St. Josephs and Wellburn Care Home. The site, with extensive outbuildings and grounds, was managed by the Little Sisters of the Poor for 150 years until 2015. Now under the Diocese of Dunkeld, Phase 1 of redevelopment has received planning approval, with construction programmed for autumn 2016.

Millard Consulting are providing a comprehensive package of Environmental assessment, Traffic planning, Infrastructure and Structural engineering. Having successfully secured planning the detailed structural design process is underway. Ground investigations commenced in January to inform foundation design for the elegant new structure which will be partly under-built into bedrock.

The new Home will substantially extend care facility at the site and is the first Phase of a potential care village development on the land, which is planned to include refurbishment of existing buildings as well as the Victorian Home building.
